Drive safely, the life you save might be your own!

Drive safely, the life you save might be your own!

Queensland has no time for speeding.
Speeding does not get you to your destination any quicker if you don't arrive safely.
The life you save might be your own.

Have you seen these messages before?  Poignant messages like these are seen or heard near and far especially close to the holiday season.

Watch this road safety message from the 1950s, the message is still relevant today.  James Dean was a massive film star of the time (ask your parents/grandparents about him) and had a legion of fans.  Rather tragically, he died in a car accident, where speed was seen as a major factor, at the age of 24 having starred in just 3 films.

Somewhat paradoxically, James Dean appeared in this short interview two weeks beforehand, talking about the danger of speeding on the road.  You can hear him say, “The life you might save might be mine.”  Possibly ad-libbing, he was apparently supposed to say, “The life you save might be your own.”

Also, after meeting Alec Guinness (Obi Wan Kenobi) one week before the accident, James Dean invited him to look at his new Porsche. Apparently, after seeing the car, Guinness said, "If you get in that car, you will be found dead in it by this time next week.”  An ironic, yet sad foretelling of the impending tragedy.

  3. Actually learning from friends and relatives does not cover everything about driving. Mostly the theory part is excluded and what they make you learn is the practical concepts of driving a car. driving test route

  4. It could also be that they were nervous. However, if they walked into the DMV knowing that they were well prepared, their anxiety could have been lessened. ket testai
